  • Study praises Tea Party freshman Labrador for fiscal restraint
The 2010 elections brought a wave of new blood to Congress, freshmen legislators from across the nation promising to rein in federal spending and regulatory reach as part of the Tea Party movement. A study released this week, however, suggests that rhetoric has not translated to reality for many of these newcomers. One exception to [...]
  • Idaho student will now be allowed to perform song originally deemed ‘too religious’
Lena Whitmore Elementary School in Moscow, Idaho, has reversed its decision to bar a student from signing the song “We Fall Down.” According to FoxNews.com, the student auditioned for the school’s talent show, where she received praise from teachers. Shortly after that, her mother received a call from the school principal. The principal told the the [...]
  • Otter: Closed primary likely to be discussed at GOP convention
Much was made leading up to the May 15 primary about it being a closed primary. Many worried that it would turn away voters and result in very few registered voters actually taking part. If the preliminary low primary vote numbers are any indication, the closed primary will be a discussion point for the GOP. As a [...]

End of the World Cookie

Endofworldcookie

Well, my last recipe hit the North Idaho Blogs. I am becoming a world famous cook. In case you missed it, it is here. Some were not that impressed, mostly likely vegan Democrats and not enough cheese. However, it did get some good reviews on Facebook and was compared to a  "pepper-belly" or "haystack!" Those are just too decadent for my eyes, I will have to do up some of those for sure. Cooks want to make impressions, that is my goal, I really don't care if you want to survive on lettuce most of your life.

However, this is my End of the World Cookie. It might save your life, it might not, depends if you take a bite or not.

It is so spring like out there these days and even on the news they are commenting about this wonderful weather that is actually a NO real winter season for many of us across the nation.

Is the Mayan calendar right? Is there some sort of event occurring amidst our solar system that will cause a cataclysmic event?

Is our axis off kilter, causing solar flares and unusual weather patterns? I know, I am ah-skeered! This is probably a good year to have a family reunion!

Well, just in case, I decided to whip up some cookies to take to an adult potluck taco bar for work and leave my mark on society in case one of them survives. I refrained from saying @ss - makes them HR appropriate and you don't want to scare any young children (I am so thoughtful). ;-)

Mayan 2012 End of the World “Doomsday” Prediction The so-called Mayan 2012 end of the world or “doomsday” prediction might be the most intriguing aspect of the Mayan calendar today. Based on their ancient calendar system, Mayans believed the “Great Cycle of the present age” would last for 13 backtun cycles of 144,000 days and come to an end on December 23, 2012. This calculation has led some people to fear that the Mayan “doomsday prediction” actually means civilization as we know it will come to some kind of cataclysmic end next year. While debating the likelihood of this prophecy can make for interesting conversation, Maya people saw the world as undergoing recurring cycles of death and rebirth, so that the end of the current calendar cycle also marks the start of the next one rather than an onslaught of the apocalypse.

This recipe is so easy, you can buy cookies and stick them in baggies, I don't care. I just took the recipe on the back of the Nestle Toll House Chocolate Chips, but I split up the goodness and used peanut butter chips, white chocolate chips, and some toffee Heath Bar crunch bits. You can make oatmeal cookies with raisins, it's all good! The fun is with the message!

I did it again! Made the North Idaho Blogs! However, please do not look for grammatical errors in my cookies.

  • Personal Attacks
Mary Souza’s Newsletter   Anti Recall people have been slinging personal insults, calling childish names and organizing intimidation against local businesses.  They are trying to act big but, in truth, they are incredibly small. And at last Tuesday’s city council meeting, they even tried to blame the Recall effort for all the personal anger and vitriol.  [...]
  • Inclined to Intimidate
Mary Souza’s Newsletter   There’s a long standing, but ugly tradition of intimidation in our town. It’s trying to smother the Recall effort right now and it’s trying to block the public’s right to vote. But this time the intimidators are not going to win. We have strength and safety in numbers, and thousands of [...]
  • “So You’ll Recall” — Tom Kane
Wednesday night OpenCdA attended a meeting of about 50 community members to discuss the recall effort under way in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.   At the close of the meeting, a man with a soft, peaceful voice asked if he could read a poem he had composed. I wish everyone in Coeur d’Alene could have heard his [...]
