  • Study praises Tea Party freshman Labrador for fiscal restraint
The 2010 elections brought a wave of new blood to Congress, freshmen legislators from across the nation promising to rein in federal spending and regulatory reach as part of the Tea Party movement. A study released this week, however, suggests that rhetoric has not translated to reality for many of these newcomers. One exception to [...]
  • Idaho student will now be allowed to perform song originally deemed ‘too religious’
Lena Whitmore Elementary School in Moscow, Idaho, has reversed its decision to bar a student from signing the song “We Fall Down.” According to FoxNews.com, the student auditioned for the school’s talent show, where she received praise from teachers. Shortly after that, her mother received a call from the school principal. The principal told the the [...]
  • Otter: Closed primary likely to be discussed at GOP convention
Much was made leading up to the May 15 primary about it being a closed primary. Many worried that it would turn away voters and result in very few registered voters actually taking part. If the preliminary low primary vote numbers are any indication, the closed primary will be a discussion point for the GOP. As a [...]

Stebbijo’s place – makeover!

Surprise!

Welcome to my new home!  Still have some furniture to move around and some boxes to unpack, but my new surroundings are starting to gel. I even have extra room for all of you! Check out the Community Portal! There is also a cookbook in this kitchen, anyone can add a recipe. I have a few in there, but I could use some good cooks and there is going to be a game room coming soon.

Ironman came and went again, this year. Fun for us, because we like to barbecue with the neighbors  on our dead end road. Hickory smoke filled the air as the pork loin cooked to perfection. Then we chopped it up finely, fried it, then slathered it with barbecue sauce. Plop on a bun and goop it up some more with coleslaw and you have the tastiest trailer park BBQ in the Northwest, not to mention the marinated finger steaks. Next year, we should just take it to the street, sit out on our chairs, drink beer, wave to the bycyclers and make everyone drool!

So, take a look around. Please register and check out my new digs and watch for fireworks!

  • Personal Attacks
Mary Souza’s Newsletter   Anti Recall people have been slinging personal insults, calling childish names and organizing intimidation against local businesses.  They are trying to act big but, in truth, they are incredibly small. And at last Tuesday’s city council meeting, they even tried to blame the Recall effort for all the personal anger and vitriol.  [...]
  • Inclined to Intimidate
Mary Souza’s Newsletter   There’s a long standing, but ugly tradition of intimidation in our town. It’s trying to smother the Recall effort right now and it’s trying to block the public’s right to vote. But this time the intimidators are not going to win. We have strength and safety in numbers, and thousands of [...]
  • “So You’ll Recall” — Tom Kane
Wednesday night OpenCdA attended a meeting of about 50 community members to discuss the recall effort under way in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.   At the close of the meeting, a man with a soft, peaceful voice asked if he could read a poem he had composed. I wish everyone in Coeur d’Alene could have heard his [...]
