People in Coeur d'Alene love a good local story to wet their soap opera palates. They just die for attention at any cost raising the ridiculous to a local level of community insanity A few stories lately, come to mind.

1. The spanking of a child at a 4th of July Parade [1] - makes National News even!
2. The alleged secret recording of a conversation [2] over coffee between local activist Mary Souza, and Sgt. Christie Wood, Public Relations for the city cop shop. This episode brings everyone out - including reporters from nearby states wanting the facts! "The million dollar unaswered question goes something like this, "Did you or did you not secretly record a conversation which just happens to be legal in the state of Idaho?" However, the real issue is how Wood is on the college board of trustees and is using her influence to scam us into believeing that our tax dollars are not being used to give officials of the college pay raises, while they in turn raise the tuition in the name of education for the children! This is a real life cop story! [3]
3. Then we have this thing going on where shadow government  - the Lake City Development Corporation [4] has hired a Public Relations consultant to bring us all closer together. For around 35 thousand dollars of taxpayer money, this woman wants us to meet the LCDC half way now. The ball is in our court! Yeah right sweetheart - like we want HALF and more of our money back! Get it? We are tired of paying for awnings and flower baskets - not to mention massive huge buildings that most of us will not be able to afford to buy, play in, or see.
4. One, that I will never forget was the Semen Brownie Boy story. This lasted almost 2 weeks - maybe more. It was a national headliner. I am sorry to admit that I was baited into this story - but I could not help myself. It was another blogger's fault. He knows who he is. The Semen Brownie Boy story is infamous and is a 10. [5]
5. Coeur d'Alene was also famous for the prosecuter's office getting caught with steamy sexy emails [6] and pornography. I was party to that story and covered it at my end here, not to mention real live pornography on the local government internet [7] including the infamous little naked boy in a bowl of cold cheerios.
6. Oh yeah, then one of our local newspapers, The Spokesman-Review got caught with kiddie porn movies and the like on their servers. [8]That has still not made court, probably never will.

I know it's disgusting and lurid but that is what drives the turn of events here. It's the taste that makes some of this hit the national big time. Coeur d'Alene loves the limelight. Pretty soon their own local hospital will be famous for the implied consent/disclosure of unauthorized falsifed medical records into the public record with their name all over it because they cannot get a grip on confidentiality laws or due process not to mention fraud.
